Lost Caverns Hotel bellhop Freddie Phillips is suspected of murder. Swami Talpur tries to hypnotize Freddie into confessing, but Freddie is too stupid for the plot to work. Inspector Wellman uses Freddie to get the killer (and it isn't the Swami).

This was originally intended as a vehicle for 'Bob Hope (I)' (qv). After the huge success of _Bud Abbott Lou Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)_ (qv), Universal-International wanted another "horror" comedy with 'Bud Abbott' (qv) and 'Lou Costello (I)' (qv), so the script was rewritten for them. Oddly enough, the role played by 'Boris Karloff' (qv) was originally written for a woman.
