Allen portrays Luther Krank who, fed up with the commerciality of Christmas, decides to skip the holiday and go on a vacation with his wife instead. But when his daughter decides at the last minute to come home, he must put together a holiday celebration.

CONT: The cut on Nora Krank's forehead she received while tanning, and the position of her fringe, change and disappear between shots.
CONT: When Luther refuses to buy the Christmas tree from the Boy Scouts, Nora and Luther go in the front door which has a Christmas wreath on it. The Boy Scout leader complains to a group of neighbors and they all turn to look at the Kranks' house. When the door is seen from across the street and in a series of close-ups, the door has no wreath on it. The wreath reappears and stays there until Luther throws it aside.
FACT: During the Christmas party, when Marty and the Peruvian boyfriend started to perform a song in Spanish, behind Marty was someone playing the Andean pan-pipe (an instrument with two rows on bamboo pipes arranged in size order). He is playing the instrument backwards, the smaller row must be facing him not away from him
GEOG: When Nora Krank is chasing the canned ham in the parking lot at the grocery store she is supposed to be in Chicago in the winter, yet there are trees with leaves visible in the background.
CONT: After declining Aubey's offer to order Christmas cards, Nora sits down to lunch with Candi and Merry. Upon revealing that the Kranks are avoiding Christmas and that there will be no Christmas Eve party, Candi asks the question "When do you leave?". However Nora did not mention a word of the cruise to either of the two.

Christmas with the Kranks trivia

The title of the 'John Grisham' (qv) book on which the film is based is "Skipping Christmas". It wasn't used for the film to avoid confusion with another Christmas-themed film, _Surviving Christmas (2004)_ (qv).
During filming, it was reported that the cast and crew had ingested over 10 pounds of fake snow.

Lots of deleted and alternate footage appears in the movie's trailer (included in the "Previews" section on the DVD). Some examples are: - A book being opened to a photo of the Krank family. - Nora Krank taking a photo of her husband and daughter outside their house. - Luther Krank with a device in his mouth, obviously sitting in a dentist's chair to get his teeth whitened and/or fixed. - Luther Krank driving home with the skimpy tree on the roof of his car getting heckled by another motorist. - A different cruise advertisement in the travel agency's window. - Luther Krank showing his botox-injected face in the hospital. (We only see it for the first time in the scene afterwards where he's eating with his wife.) - The shot of Blair Krank saying goodbye to her parents at the airport doesn't have a screen credit over it as it does in the actual film.
During the scene where Nora Crank ('Jamie Lee Curtis' (qv)) is talking to Luther Crank on the phone, while Vic Frohmeyer demands that Frosty be put up, Luther tells Nora to "get out of there". After he says that the piano theme from _Halloween (1978)_ (qv) begins to play briefly, a movie which Jamie Lee Curtis starred in.
