Finding Neverland Storyline

London, 1903: four lads, three women, and J.M. Barrie in the year he writes "Peter Pan." After one of his plays flops, Barrie meets four boys and their widowed mother in the park. During the next months, the child-like Barrie plays with the boys daily, and their imaginative games give him ideas for a play. Simultaneously, a friendship deepens with Sylvia, the lads' mother, to the chagrin of his wife Mary, with whom he spends little time (separate bedrooms), the widow's mother, and high society, which gossips about his attraction to the widow and to her sons. As Sylvia's health worsens, Barrie's ties to the boys strengthen and he must find a way to take his muse to Neverland.

Finding Neverland trivia

During filming, on his second day on the set, 'Dustin Hoffman' (qv) lost the tip of a finger in an accident when a folding chair collapsed and dropped him to the floor. Doctors were unable to reattach the finger tip. To manage the pain, Hoffman performed one day of shooting on morphine. In one scene, he keeps his hand in his pocket to hide the bandages.
'Dustin Hoffman' (qv) has appeared in two films about "Peter Pan" (_Hook (1991)_ (qv) and _Finding Neverland (2004)_ (qv)). Following his appearance in "Hook", close friend and former roommate 'Gene Hackman' (qv) began calling him "Hook" as a joke. The name stuck and his contemporaries call him by that nickname to this day.
'Dustin Hoffman' (qv) has his hand in his jacket while being told the idea of the boy who would never grow up because he had cut the tip of his finger and his hand had to be above his heart.
During the opening scene most of the extras wanted to go through the left door so they could shake 'Dustin Hoffman' (qv)'s hand.
In the film, Johnny Depp spies Dustin Hoffman's character reading through the Peter Pan playbill, mocking the character names. The original script, however, called for Dustin Hoffman to be dressed in Captain Hook's costume as he playfully read the playbill. Upon reading that scene, Dustin said to director Marc Forestor, "I'm not being Hook again!" The script was then changed.

J.M. Barrie: [moves his foot and looks down to face Michael] Am I? So sorry. I might point out you're lying under my bench.
